Win-Win Proposition for Winelovers

Win-Win Proposition for Winelovers

He and She have been members of the Naked Wines Angel program for quite some time. It has been a fun way to discover new and unique wines. It's always enjoyable to have some unrecognized-but-great bottles, with interesting underdog stories, tucked in your cellar that you can introduce to your friends. And even cooler, every time we stock up on their exclusive wines, it provides more funding for small winemakers to pursue their passion projects and we get gooood wine karma. Who doesn't need that action?

There are more than 90,000 of us "Angels" who each set aside $40/month to order wines, and it allows creative winemakers the upfront cash they need to produce better wines. As a thank you, once their wines are ready, winemakers offer their wines at a deeply discounted price to the Angels.

To get $100 off your first order of $160 or more, and free delivery, click here! There is NO obligation to buy again, but with the quality of the wines, and Angel discounts offered (usually 40-60%), you will likely choose to purchase more. It's entirely up to you if you would like to support future winemaker efforts.

Here are some honest, quickie thoughts on our most recent shipment:

Jonathan Maltus Le Lastau Saint-Emilion Bordeaux 2015 is a versatile and rich red blend (75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). Wine the way red wine should be. Reminds us of why we like wine. We will order again.

F. Stephen Millier Angel's Reserve Red Blend Lodi 2016 has a high alcohol nose so let it breathe! With this blend of Shiraz, Merlot, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah we got notes of dark cherry and blackberry. It paired well with our homemade pasta.

David Marchesi Napa Valley Chardonnay 2016 (Carneros Hills) is a well-balanced traditional Chardonnay. Not overly fruity, and not very buttery-oaky but definitely note the French oak. We will buy again as a daily drinker.

List $27 Angel Price $16

Matt Iaconis Pinot Noir Rosé Santa Rita Hills 2017 falls in the middle of the spectrum from acidic dry to fleshy fruity, so we dub it “a real crowd pleaser.” We’d buy it again.

Angel Price $13

David Akiyoshi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Clarksburg 2015 is a fruitier (think wild berry) cab than we prefer, although others may like it. We give it 2 out of 5 stars. We would not buy again.

List $22 Angel Price $13

F. Stephen Millier Black Label Zinfandel Amador County 2016 is initially dark fruit-forward but tannins balance it well so it ends up pairing nicely with our spicy Puttanesca Sauce. Message us if you want this awesome family recipe!

List $24 Angel Price $14

David Akiyoshi Reserve Chardonnay Clarksburg 2016. We are happy the Angels rescued this vineyard from being ripped up and gave Akiyoshi the funding to focus on quality over quantity. Very fresh combination of white peach, citrus and vanilla, nicely malolactic, lightly-oaked sur lie aged 10 months, subtle honey sweetness at finish. Paired well with our Shrimp Curry. Again, message us if you'd like the recipe. We will buy again - great value!

List $20 Angel Price $12

Garagiste Bordeaux Jonathan Maltus 2015. This blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc is dang good (the pig pizzle of wine). Blends from St. Emilion hit all the marks for us - they have a certain je ne sais woo. We will buy again.

List $29 Angel Price $17

Scott Peterson's SP Drummer Chardonnay Napa Valley 2016 is well-balanced, with notes of citrus. This California chardonnay does not have too much oak, is refreshing, and clean. We were expecting something different because the site described it as creamy, velvety, silky and smooth. Served chilled to 58 degrees as a good summer drinker. We will buy again.

List $27 Angel Price $16
